What is the difference between SVG and raster formats (e.g., PNG, JPEG)?

SVG is a vector format, meaning it is resolution-independent and perfect for graphics like logos and illustrations. Raster formats like PNG and JPEG are pixel-based and are better suited for photographs. PicShifter allows you to convert between these formats with ease. Check out our Convert to SVG page for more details.

What is the maximum image resolution supported?

PicShifter supports processing images up to a resolution of 8000 x 8000 pixels. For larger resolutions, we recommend resizing the image before uploading it.

Do you support batch image editing?

Currently, PicShifter processes images one at a time to ensure the highest quality and performance. For batch processing needs, we recommend processing images in small groups manually.

What is the difference between Grayscale and Blur effects?

  • Grayscale: Converts your image to shades of gray, removing all color information.
  • Blur: Softens the image by reducing fine details, often used for creating backgrounds or artistic effects.

What is DPI?

DPI stands for Dots Per Inch, a measure of image resolution. It indicates the number of individual dots that can be placed in a line within a span of one inch.

Higher DPI: Results in better image quality and sharper details, suitable for printing. Standard printing resolution is often 300 DPI. Lower DPI: Suitable for digital screens, where 72 DPI is commonly used, as screens rely on pixel dimensions rather than physical dots.
